On 17 October 2025, the InnovationFestival Karlsruhe, run by karlsruhe.digital, hosted “AI in practice: pitch & impulses”, a session of short talks from real-world use. Benjamin Berger presented how Kontrakte.AI supports public authorities in reviewing contracts.

The starting point was put briefly: many contracts meet a small number of caseworkers, and every change of staff puts experience at risk. Kontrakte.AI works at two points. Formal review compares submitted texts with model texts and flags deviations. Content review goes through the document using checklists.

One focus was institutional knowledge. Decisions from earlier reviews and the organisation's existing document repositories feed into new reviews as context. This means new colleagues do not have to start from scratch.

The division of roles was just as clear: the AI pre-checks, people decide. Every finding points to its source in the document.

The talk closed with an outlook on the steps planned at the time, including a free choice of language model, bulk checks, an add-in for Microsoft Word and matter management.

A recording of the talk is available on YouTube. You can find out more about the pre-check under Check and about use in public administration under Public sector.
