On 21 May 2025, Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences hosted the 15th Business Analytics Day, organised together with the Institute for Machine Learning and Analytics (IMLA) at Offenburg University of Applied Sciences. Raphael Hettich and Benjamin Berger of Consiliari Software GmbH and Prof. Dr. Uwe Haneke of Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences gave a talk on AI-assisted contract management.

The starting point was a project in public administration. A responsible authority reviews contract documents submitted to it by external parties. The talk showed how an AI solution analyses and pre-checks these documents before caseworkers assess them.

Two ideas were at the centre. First, the system uses data that the review process produces anyway, such as earlier decisions on comparable passages, without training a language model on it. Second, it turns this data into reports that help to steer the process.

Kontrakte.AI follows a firm principle: the AI pre-checks, people decide. Every finding points to the passage in the document on which it is based. This means every assessment can be traced before anyone accepts or rejects it.

You can find out how the pre-check works in detail under Check, and how Kontrakte.AI is used by public authorities under Public sector. The programme entry for the talk is available on the Business Analytics Day website.
